"Mela" means Fair, the Indian Fair was originated in Calcutta (Kolkata) by the help of the Tagore Family. Rabindra Nath Tagore (1861-1941) was the youngest son of Debendranath Tagore, He was educated at home; and although at seventeen he was sent to England for formal schooling,the first Asian to became Nobel laureate when he won Nobel Prize for his collection of poems, Gitanjali in 1913; awarded knighthood by the British King George V; established Viswabharati University; two songs from his Rabindrasangit canon are now the national anthems of India and Bangladesh. He was a poet, philosopher, musician, writer, and educationist. He was popularly called as Gurudev and his songs were popularly known as Rabindrasangeet.

Bengal is famous for its Handicrafts world wide. people buy these Handicrafts to decorate their homes, most of them buy to gift them to friends and relatives, If you are a tourist then I would suggest you to pick some of them.
I picked some of them to gift my Tour guests.

Kolkata is famous for its street food, Phuchka, mixed chat and Bhel puri are the famous street food. I figured out few Bhel puri stalls at the fair and posed for a click.
